Knitting for Philanthropy

Our Guild enjoys assisting worthy organizations and giving back to our community by donating our knitted items (baby blankets, hats, booties, afghans, sweaters, chemotherapy turbans, and more) to various local charities, hospitals and hospices.

It is our goal to post projects that you can make to help us with this goal.

Most agree that lap afghans should not be too wide -- 30" to 36" wide seems to be the average. The length varies from 30" to 56" depending if it is for a man or women and how far down you want the afghan to cover. Since they can always be folded, too long is better than too short. If they are long, they can also be used on the bed. Also putting a pocket on the blanket gives the person a convenient place to put things while they are in a wheelchair. It is recommended that no fringe, buttons or big loops be used for finishing. They want to minimizie the chance of yarn getting caught in the wheels.

Philanthropic Holiday Project 2015

Philanthropic holiday project was huge successes over 60 stockings were donated plus several bears and dolls. I would like to thank each of our members for their time and effort making this event so successful in bring cheer to the children in the hospital over the holiday.
